Perth Solar City was launched on November 5th by Peter Garrett at the Foundry Building at Midland Atelier. Perth Solar City is the final Australian Government Solar City project and will be delivered to communities within Perth's Eastern Region over the next 4 years.

Each Solar City will integrate a unique combination of energy options such as energy efficiency measures for homes and businesses, the use of solar technologies, cost reflective pricing trials to reward people who use energy wisely, and community education about better energy usage in an increasingly energy-reliant world. The Foundry will have solar panels installed on the roof to power the Midland Atelier site and is the first Western Australian location to be chosen.
