One of the outstanding creative talents emerging in Western Australia is former Midland Atelier artist Adam Cruickshank.
Recently featured in Vogue, Habitus, and the Australian Design Review amongst others, Adam has fast become known internationally for his award winning designs and unique organic craftsmanship. Adam’s designs are sold internationally across the US by Bragdon Global Goods. He incorporates traditional techniques with cutting edge design and precise construction. Adam’s diverse portfolio includes furniture, objects, lighting, jewellery, guitars, and hotel and cafe fit-outs. He was shortlisted for his Chrysalis lights in the 2008 ID awards.
Works such as the Chrysalis, a striking pendant designed and handmade by Adam, fuse art and function. Adam is distinct in his graceful, organic aesthetic: the Chrysalis is created using a unique lamination technique, which enhances the organic properties of its renewable material. Pendants are hand finished with natural oils and shipped in flat (recycled cardboard) disks. Adam also creates fresh, bold and beautiful cuffs and rings. His unique objects are created with multiple layers of wood veneer. This process makes each piece flexible yet strong, similar to his Chrysalis pendants. Every piece is hand shaped and oiled to perfection. Adam uses an intoxicating range of colours and timbers, rendering his works charismatic and timelessly captivating.
Adam left the Atelier in 2011 to pursue his solo design practice.
